Join Sam’s Sibs Stick Together Room
*Virtual Group Meets the 2nd Tuesday of the Month from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. EST on Zoom.
Sam’s Sibs Stick Together Room is a sibling support group addressing the needs of siblings of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities.
The group is overseen by a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and led by Els for Autism Clinical Team Member Amanda Lopez. She knows firsthand the importance of supporting siblings of individuals with ASD.
“I am the oldest of three siblings, and Georgie is my middle brother. I remember being very aware of certain implications of Georgie’s diagnosis, but I did not have the space to express my frustration, sadness, confusion, or grief. It was not something I wanted to burden my parents with as they were going through enough,” said Amanda.
“However, I was very interested in the parent support groups my mother attended and would even try to go with her. In hindsight, I was looking for people who had similar experiences to connect with. In that way, my mom was right, and a parent support group would not have served me.
“Having the ability to be a part of this group, provide support to one another, and connect on our shared experiences is, cheesy as it may sound, a dream of mine come true.”
Join the Sam’s Sibs Stick Together Virtual Room. The group meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30 PM EST on Zoom.
